Thank you for enabling us to follow our addiction.

Hello Dear Chemists, and welcome back to another super-delayed blog

Needless to say we are very lucky to be blessed with so many listeners who are willing to humour us for so long; I hope you will feel the wait has been worth it!

19 Dec'10 - projects starts - Chantel, Fernando and I working on vocals to "Sara"
As many of you already know, we started this project nearly 6 years ago and have almost released an album a few times in the past with various speed-bumps and setbacks along the way. Some which hurt us so deeply that we had metaphorically felt as if all our hard work and progress washed away by forces out of our control. Our morale had taken many hits and it’s no secret that we lost some treasured band mates along the way as a result of this.

So why the self-indulgent back story? Well we feel we have learned some valuable lessons along our journey to reach this checkpoint, lessons that would have led to our true death a lot sooner even had our album been released upon first announcement.

22 Oct'11 - Photo shoot for our album cover
It is a common misconception that the milestone of releasing your first album is the sign of having broken the proverbial glass-ceiling in the highly exclusive and ruthless music industry. It turns out that this is faulty thinking and potentially career suicide for the band without deeper priorities. It is difficult to admit, but we clearly fell into that camp for far too long.
At the end of the day it is about the music. Cliché and corny as hell, WE KNOW! All the same, it’s true.

Despite Chantel and I being the founders, we weren’t ever left to wallow in bleak thoughts. Thanks to the positive energy from our down to Earth dear friend and producer/manager Fernando, the boundless enthusiasm of our Drummer Rob, the focused determination of our Bassist Goeff and the endless striving for perfection from our guitarist Donny… this ship has managed to stay afloat in hostile waters.

Mostly it’s thanks to you guys we’re still around. You’ve remained interested, supportive and most of all just all round hard-core! You’ve reminded us time and time again why we do this and more so, why we love it!

We couldn’t be happier with what we’ve got. It’s been a brutal half-decade with too many ups and downs to mention (at least until the day we inevitably decide to cash in on a tell-all behind the scenes autobiography). This album is already a success because it is the album we’ve always wanted to make. The one you helped us to make… and we hope you enjoy it.

Thank you for enabling us to follow our addiction.
Sincerely David Benzaquen
